Comme vous avez pu le lire sur MadDecent, sur Ghettobassquake ou sur Discobelle (je suis faignant je poste pas dès que je reçois), Frikstailers viennent de sortir un EP autour de la track Baile Frick où ils présentent leur version du funk de Morro (télécharger ici). Bon ça fait longtemps que ça circule, mais les tracks avec Zulu sont vraiment excellentes. Vous avez sans doute écouté leur version du Kuduro l'été dernier sur Masala. Non? Et comme Jasper de Maddecent le dit: get ready for their El Guincho remix! Une bombe que vous pouvez entendre dans la vidéo ci-dessous. Sinon c'est par là que ça se passe.


One of my favourite label, Strut Rec is releasing a best of of Lafayette Afro-Rock band (also known by the name of ICE). A classic for the funk amateurs in Paris (they lived in France), but it might be less known outside of France. So go check it out and download this great track called Time Will Tell here. My personal favourite would be Congo or Racubah! though.

Frikstailers Duo would like to speak portuguese

I mean it's obvious this guys from Cordoba, Argentina, want to speak Portuguese. After a glitchy reinterpretation of Baile Funk with Baile Frik, Rafael sent me that un-released track telling me "I think this is the way we´d make music if we where born in Angola.. this would be kuduro según Frikstailers.=D"

Great track indeed, which is also telling us that not only white middle class kids from North America and Europe are interested in this "other"(geographical, race, class) music and doing things with it (in this case producing new music, elsewhere, like here at Masala, presenting it, talking about it and simply feeling it). In this times when we're urged of getting involved if we're "engaging" in "other" people music, what is the place for fun, irony and creativity? I think this things created an interesting result with Frikstailers's Ta Duro Kuduro.
