Last month I posted some crazy Magic Juan tunes mixing chop & screw hip-hop and merrengue, well I just stumble on this great track by my favourite merengue artist Fulanito! Shake it!

Le merrengue-hop de Magic Juan

Depuis plusieurs semaines déjà j'écoute en boucle ces deux morceaux de Magic Juan. Des différents genres que Magic Juan expérimente, c'est définitivement le merrengue que je préfère, notemment car il y met une bonne dose de hip-hop. Juan a des racines Dominicaine, mais il est né à New York et a grandi au New Jersey. Il mélange l'anglais et l'espagnol constamment dans ses chansons et maintient un super flow sur les fast talk. Le premier morceau est un énième remix/cover de A Milli de Lil Wayne qui double le tempo original et change le titre pour "un million". El Rey De Santo Domingo est un des gros tube du moment qui trône en haut des charts dominicaines et latino américaines.

I've been listening to this two Magic Juan songs in loop for the last few weeks. From all the different genres Magic Juan is experimenting the Merrengue is definitely the one I prefer, especially when he mixes it up with a good dose of hip-hop. Juan has roots in the Dominican Republic, but he was born in NY and raised in New Jersey. He mixes spanish and english in his songs and keep a great flow in the fast talk parts. The first song is another Lil Wayne's A Millie cover/remix where Juan is doubling the tempo and change the title for "A Million". El Rey De Santo Domingo is a big hit in the Dominican community.

Masala on Latin Music Mondays

Ce matin, j'étais invité à l'émission Latin Music Mondays de l'ami Raynald pour discuter et jouer des nouveaux sons de l'Amérique Latine. C'était ma première visite à CKUT McGill et j'avoue que ça m'a rappelé le CISM d'avant, quand c'était encore tout croche et à la bonne franquette :)
