VALEO AUGUST TOP 10

Bashment Party!
Hello everyone, as you may know I recently changed my name from Khiasma to Valeo (add me on myspace or twitter)! So in order to get it out there, I decided to start a monthly top 10. This will be helpfull also to share with you my favourites tunes as I'm not directly participating to the radio show anymore (moved from Montreal to Toronto). So here's the first Valeo TOP 10 in no particular order, comments and links below! Bashment party!

VALEO TOP 10 AUGUST CHART

Yolanda Be Cool - Afro Nuts (Douster rmx) [Listen / Download]
POIRIER ft YT - Let Them Hate (Video)
Flore ft Rodney - Rewind It (original mix) [Listen]
Dama S - Danse Avec Moi, Kuduro! (Prod Kuduro Sound System) [Listen / Video]
Dj Du Marcel - Tribal Sound [Listen]
Gappy Ranks - Stinkin Rich (Stefski Remix) [Listen & Download]
Major Lazer - Pon De Floor (ft. VYBZ Kartel) [Listen / Video]
RDB ft Lil Wayne - Paisa (A Millie) [Download]

So I'm really feeling the UK Funky drum pattern these days and Matt Shadetek brings his own take on the style with his excellent Wonton Garden Riddim. JahDan, 77 Klash and Spoek are even pushing it to the next level with just enough pop sensibility and attitude. While in the UK, Stiky is just killing it on the regular, and this joint with Marvin Brown is no exception. I'm loving it, just want to do dance choreography every time I hear this banger. On the other side of La Manche, Douster moved back to his home country France recently and keeps working hard on producing excellent dancefloor bombs that are mixing electro and carribean and african influenced drum patterns. And really, I'm a sucker for this sound in which I would put Switch's Pon De Floor as well as Du Marcel's Tribal Sound. Tribal sound is exemplifying that you can really find amazing techno tracks in Kuduro these days, but as Kuduro is slowly crossing over, there's also more mainstream oriented songs coming up. Frédéric Galianno, the man behind Kuduro Sound System, is on a mission to spread out this music as much as possible and consider Dama S - Danse avec moi to be one of the WMD in his arsenal.

Now to finish with the tracks that arent faster than 125BPM, I put Poirier's next big tune with rising UK reggae star YT out of the upcoming EP called Run The Riddim (Itunes on Aug 25th). Check out the video below, I did during the Bridge Burner last june. Go also have a peak at Flore's myspace page to listen to some tracks of her upcoming album to be released in october on Botchit & Scarper. The first single with Ex-Yo Majesty! member Shunda K is also a killer. In the same electro dancehall vein, Stefksi revisit of Gappy Ranks remains in my recent favorites; still loving these keys! And finally, Canada/UK's RDB are back with some bhangra-hip-hop remixes! I'll dedicate a future post to this song, as I went to see one of their show last week-end here in Tdot.
